God Acts
God Creates – Part 1

Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:1-12

Key Verse: Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God is and always was an active God. The Bible reminds us that God never sleeps or slumbers (Psalm 121:4). Genesis chapter one paints the picture of our God, as He created the earth and all that inhabits it. God is the author of life as we know it on His earth. The gospel of John is clear on this point: “God created everything through Him (Jesus) and nothing was created except through Him” (John 1:3).

God created the heavens and the earth. To create, according to the dictionary definition, is to cause to come into being. The Bible tells us that it was God who caused this earth to come into being. It takes no more faith to believe in a creative God, than to believe that some big bang aligned all that was needed to hang the earth in perfect position to the sun and the moon. You must choose what you believe. No matter your choice, there is no one that can offer you a complete understanding. Remember, those that reject God refer to their creation story as the Big Bang Theory; no facts are suggested!

Our Creator God positioned the earth and all the planets. Genesis 1:2 reminds us that God’s Spirit hovered over the surface and began the creative process. As God spoke elements into existence, it was all good and beautiful. Paul wrote: “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky…everything God made; they can know God” (Romans 1:20). (Continued)

Father, I honor you as my Creator God and my Redeemer! In Jesus’ name, amen.
