Your Time is Near – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:17-25
Key Verse: Matthew 26:18
He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'”
Jesus knew His time was near. We seldom can know when our appointed times are right around the corner. Therefore, we must keep our faith and honor God’s promises. How bad would you feel to realize the day before the appointed time to fulfill one of your requests, you started accusing God of “never answering your prayers.” Like a whining child, we tell God we just can’t take it any longer. Then the next day you see God move mightily, just like He had determined to do many days before.
Stay faithful and trusting as you wait on the Lord. It may seem like a long time, but God has the perfect day picked out to answer your prayers. If the answer never comes because God has said no, then it is the right answer—so keep rejoicing. God is always worthy of our faith and trust. Yes or no, we should “rejoice always, and again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).
The Bible tells us that a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day to God (2 Peter 3:8). In other words, God is on a different time line than we are! It is not our job to figure out God’s ways or timing. He asks us to wait in faith, rejoicing that our heavenly Father is at work in our lives and future!
Father, I will stay in an attitude of praise in anticipation of your appointed time to work out all things in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
