Life Plugged In

The Bible doesn’t apologize for the challenge to pour their lives out for God’s Kingdom!

Plug In…Pour Out
He Humbled Himself

Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:5-11

Key Verse: Philippians 2:8

And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death–
even death on a cross!

</span>The last section of our monthly theme, “Life Plugged In,” is all about personal sacrifice for a worthy cause. If that sounds radical, we should remind ourselves of all the personal sacrifices given for kid’s sports leagues and school activities. Parents sacrifice time, energy and money to keep their kids involved with these secular interests. The amount of sacrifice these parents are willing to make still amazes me at times. I have no problem with these parents’ decisions, but the cause that they are sacrificing for pales in importance to God’s Kingdom causes!

The Bible doesn’t apologize in any way for the challenge it gives to all believers to pour their lives out for God’s Kingdom! Our Key Verse for today reminds us that Jesus poured His life out for us, becoming “obedient to death, even death on the cross.” There is only one appropriate response to Jesus’ sacrifice: imitate it. Philippians 2:5 says, “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 5:1 says, “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Have you “plugged in and poured out” yet? Are you giving your time, talents and money to Kingdom purposes in a sacrificial way?

Father help me today to imitate all that I know about you. I’m willing to make the sacrifice! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
