How to be Led by God

God can and will adjust the ways you handle relationships and money in your life

Don’t be Afraid
Cycle of Victory – Part 2

Scripture: Psalm 37:5-7a

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him

Yesterday’s devotional described the first two phrases from Psalm 37 that give us our cycle of victory. The third phrase is “delight yourself in the Lord.” This indicates that a person is “taking great pleasure” in God. We get ourselves to this level by, first, simply participating in the “God activities” that are available. For me, God activities are daily prayer times, reading the Bible, experiencing weekly worship on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Other God activities include good deeds in Jesus’ name, being forgiving to those who offend you and showing concern for the weak people around you who have fallen prey to the many addictions of this world. As we expose ourselves to these activities and consistently participate in them, we will grow in our “delight” for them. Once you take great pleasure in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart!

The fourth phrase that teaches this cycle of victory is found in Psalm 37:5: “Commit your way to the Lord.” Look at a few words Webster uses to define the word commit: “entrust, give in charge, pledge, promise.” God works victory in all those who “entrust their ways;” “pledge their ways;” “promise their ways” to the Lord. Are you ready to do that today? Can you trust the wisdom and love of God to the point that you will totally commit to Him? If so, that means that some of our “ways” may need to be replaced with God’s “ways.” Can God adjust the ways you handle relationships and/or money in your life? Changing our “operating systems” may not be easy, but it is worth it when God’s in it!

Father, help me to increase my ‘delighting’ levels, as I work on my commitment level to all your ways! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
