Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us
Our key verse for today promises us that God can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Think about that phrase, “immeasurably more.” Is it an exaggeration; a white lie? Of course not. We Bible believers know that God would never make statements that are more than He is willing to follow through on! When you are thinking about your needs, put them in this perspective: God can provide what I need and far beyond all I could imagine!
Our GAP clothing stores don’t hold a candle to God’s provisions for His children. God adds possessions to His family as well as spiritual blessings! When God adds possessions, it can be far beyond what we ask for or could even imagine. In my life, when I wait on the Lord to provide a possession that I’m praying about, it normally is nicer—better—than I was thinking about. However, sometimes I go ahead with a purchase without praying about it. That is when the old adage comes true: “We get what we paid for.” Our Father doesn’t live by that saying. When we wait on His answer, we get far more and far better than we pay for!
The point I’m trying to make this week is that God is not against material possessions! God is against material possessions consuming us. Let’s seek the Giver of all good gifts, not just the gifts!
Father, I give you praise for every good thing in my life. I will be generous with others today because of your generosity with me! In Jesus’ name, amen.
