Things Gone Wrong Can Be Discipline
Achievement for Me
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:17
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
Think about this for a moment: Have you asked over the years, “How do I achieve ________?”
Maybe you asked this of a coach in school sports or a teacher concerning a tough subject. Perhaps you asked a friend how you could achieve some feat that they had mastered. Sometimes we see the result of someone else’s long, hard work and wish we could have the same results without the hard work!
The Apostle Paul reminds us that God helps us “achieve an eternal glory!”
I do not know about you, but that sounds wonderful to me. I want eternal glory. I realize I cannot understand all the glory that God is preparing for me, but I know one thing for certain: I want it all! My guess is that you do too.
Now that we agree on our desire for the end results, we must go back to the first part of this verse and note how we achieve it: “troubles.”
God allows troubles to come our way at times for the sake of discipline, to make sure we are making progress toward the end we desire.
Are you going through some things that are unpleasant right now? Open your heart to your heavenly Father. Ask Him to reveal any reasons that you may need His discipline.
If no specific thing comes to mind, praise Him. If His Spirit puts His divine finger on a specific issue, confess it and decide to rid yourself of it.
Father, please search my heart right now. If I have some junk to clean up in my life, show me and I will begin the work to clean up Your temple! In Jesus’s Name, amen.
