God’s Lifetime Warranties
You Will Never Have a Need – Part VII

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:10-20

Key Verse: Philippians 4:19 NLT
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Let’s wrap up “God’s Lifetime Warranties” with the words of Jesus in John 14:27 NLT:

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

This verse is what Jesus told His followers before He returned to His Father in Heaven. I cannot think of any more comforting words. I like how the New Living Testament (NLT) puts it: Jesus said that His peace is a gift.

Let me ask you, would you consider the gift of continuous peace of mind and heart the best gift that you could ever have?

Besides my salvation in Jesus, this is the most wonderful gift that Jesus has for me. Like any gift, I must receive it. I must open my mind and heart to this gift. If I let a gift lay around but never use it, then it does not do me any good no matter how wonderful.

How many Christ-followers would admit that they do not have a continuous flow of God’s peace of mind and heart? How many of us would have to admit to worrying and stress in our lives? I wonder how many would have to admit that worry and stress is more continuous in their lives than this gift from Jesus of peace?

Jesus quickly clarifies that His peace is far different than the peace the world offers us. The peace that we get from the world has a limitation: it only applies when we are not dealing with any problems.

That being true, how many days do you experience with absolutely no bothersome problems?

In my life, I hardly have a day without problems that could cause me to worry or stress, if I allowed myself to.

Likely all of us agree that the peace the world offers is poor. But Jesus offers a different peace, a peace despite the problems we encounter. Jesus’s gift of peace is really an understanding that He Himself is with us throughout all of life’s issues. Jesus’s gift of peace continuously blesses us with the knowledge and an inner calm that He works all these things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

Jesus concludes this verse with an admonition: “So don’t be troubled or afraid”.

Sometimes we are convinced that we cannot stop ourselves from worrying or stressing about an issue, but that is a lie of the evil one. God has given us the ability to replace thoughts of worry with thoughts that give us peace.

Arm yourself with the Word of God and these scriptures of peace. Quote them to yourself and replace the thoughts of worry and stress. Receive Jesus’s gift and live in His freedom!

Father, I do receive Your gift of peace. Help me trust it daily. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
