Fear Factors

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us (I John 3:1); You are significant in God’ eyes

Fear of Insignificance – The Need for Respect
Lavished Love

Scripture: 1 John 3:1

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Giving or spending profusely… too abundant – that is what Webster says the word “lavish” means. The Apostle John, in our scripture for today, reminds us that we’ve been lavished with love. Our Father in Heaven looked down at His created beings and gave profusely. It’s amazing and beyond our comprehension. It would be like a parent explaining why they loved their children. Their children that need diaper changes, entire wardrobe changes (for both child and parents, at times) after spitting up, and throwing tantrums that embarrass parents in front of their friends. Yes, these same children have our undying love… unexplainable!

Anyone who will come to God through His son Jesus Christ, will soon loose all fear of being insignificant! Anyone who has faith in God and His written Word, the Bible, will feel more than respected. We are called God’s children and that is what we are! Are you finding that hard to accept and believe? I hope so, because it goes way beyond the ordinary and easy to believe. Don’t take this too lightly or flippantly… God spent a profuse amount of love on you and me. John was right: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us! You are significant in God’ eyes. Why, we often ask – because He has a father’s heart that looks beyond all our imperfections and sees our deepest needs.

Today, take some time to pray some “praise” prayers. We will be singing our Father’s praise throughout eternity – let’s get started now.

Father, I do, indeed, praise you for the abundant life you have provided both now and for my eternity… You are good… all the time! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
