Series: “I Am Second”
Today: “Second Will Be First”
Scripture: Matthew 19:27-30 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”
28 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Intro: Why would anyone take Jesus up on this deal of allowing Him to take first place in your life?
A. That is only meaningful if you truly believe the promise Jesus is making.
B. If Jesus overcame death and the resurrection is true, no other obstacle is a problem in this life.
* 2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 
I. THE RESURRECTION CAN HEAL A TROUBLED HEART.
A. John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
B. Our Father weighs all that we sacrifice and promises 100 times in value back to us. 
II. THE RESURRECTION GUARANTEES OUR ETERNAL REWARDS .
A. Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.
B. We must live like few others will today, to live like few others will someday!
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Conclusion: The Apostle Peter wrote: “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8).
* Can you possibly imagine anything in your life worth missing these rewards prepared for you?
