Our Payoff for Rejoicing
Unsearchable Judgments
Scripture Reading: Romans 11:34-36
Key Verse: Romans 11:33
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
On my Bible, our scriptural passage for today is entitled, The Doxology. A doxology is a short hymn of praise to God, usually as a conclusion of a worship service. The Apostle Paul’s doxology is a conclusion to the matters of questions about God.
This doxology starts by reminding us of the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. This phrase speaks to our disappointments in life. We who trust God’s wisdom, will rejoice in our spirits because of the deep wealth of God’s knowledge. We can’t out think God nor know all the future events that He sees.
The apostle continues his doxology with the fact that God’s judgments are unsearchable and beyond human understanding. When we declare (judge) a situation to be bad, we have made our first mistake. We can’t judge correctly. We say and feel that some situations are terrible, but may find out later that they were actually good. Many of life’s situations won’t be understood until we get to heaven. God is the only One who can truly judge with accuracy and fairness. He does know all things, both the present and future. It is His judgments that we must trust. We have but one judgment to make: That God is right and a worthy judge.
We conclude all matters, as Paul did in verse 36: “To Him be the glory forever, Amen.” Rejoice always, again I say, Rejoice.
Father, I bow before you, surrender to you, and trust your unsearchable judgments. I will rejoice all day long! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
