When we die to our selfishness, pride, and fears we no longer have to worry about the death of our bodies. Death to self brings life eternal in Christ.

The Urgency of Eternity: Produce Good Seeds

Scripture Reading: John 12:20-26

Key Verse: John 12:24

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

As we wrap up this month, let’s close with the inspired words of the Apostle John.  He reminds us that we can produce many seeds from our single life!  In other words, it is God’s will that your one life can influence many lives toward God’s eternal kingdom.

These words in our printed scripture are about Jesus, first and foremost.  He died and rose again.  By His death and resurrection, “many” will live eternally in heaven, but Jesus goes on to include us in this picture.  If we lose our life, living not for our own selfish purposes, we will find life and help others to find it as well.

This dying process of the single seed is the critical matter.  Will we be willing to die to fear of man?  Can we die to the pride of life?  Will we take the time to walk across the room to enter into a relationship that might result in the salvation of another person?  The evil one will paint many fearful scenarios in our efforts to help others find life in Christ, but if we are willing to die to all that might happen, for the possibility of what could happen, many seeds will be produced!

I have a feeling your heart is like mine.  I feel inadequate for the task, but hungry for the opportunity to be used of God.  Let’s take the walk!

Father, open my eyes to the people you want me to truly see and help me to represent you well!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
