God’s help is not random efforts from a divine being far from us. He has purpose in His provisions.

God’s Provisions:
Provision with Purpose

Scripture Reading:  Romans 8:22-27

Key Verse: Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

These last few devotionals have been all about provisions—divine provisions.  It is great to know that God is watching over us, ready to help with the provisions needed for any given situation, but we must realize God is not a holy Santa Claus.  God’s provisions are about God’s purposes in our lives, not about our selfish pleasures.  We must remember the Apostle James’ warning: “When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures” (James 4:3).

Romans 8:28 is a great promise for all believers.  We normally think of it as a promise to turn negative circumstances into positive outcomes in our lives—which is true.  But in the Greek language, there is only one word for the English phrase: “All things to work together.”  The word is “sunergee” and has a literal translation of: to put forth power together with and thereby to assist; be a partner in labor.  What a wonderful thought for God’s children; we have a partner in any labor or work that we face.  God’s partnership leads us in the direction of His ultimate purpose for our life!

God’s help is not random efforts from a divine being far from us.  He is intimately involved with our lives; it is a true relationship between God and man.  When you experience God’s provisions, you’ll experience a portion of His purpose for your life!

Father, your grace is truly amazing.  I praise you for providing all I need and leading me with your great wisdom.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
