Big Rocks for Strong Christ-Followers
Today’s Big Rock: The Value of One! Part IV
Scripture Foundation: Luke 15:7
“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
Jesus wants us to know what happens in Heaven when one person repents and allows God to direct their lives:
“…there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine who are righteous and haven’t strayed away.” (Luke 15:7)
What would that “joy” look like? The Bible does not give us details, but I imagine it looks like a celebration party!
If you have ever attended a party for a celebration, you know that all the party goers focused their attention on the person for whom the party was given. No matter how many people were in attendance, the focus was on the one person.
So it is in heaven when one sinner repents. Thousands of souls are present, but the focus of their joy is on that one person.
Can you remember when you first repented and asked Jesus into your life?
If you do, try to imagine heaven’s response to your decision. You are so valuable to God that all of heaven stopped and rejoiced over you!
For most of us, that is hard to imagine. Most of us do not feel worthy of such a celebration. I think it would encourage us to force that image into our minds and praise God for seeing that much value in us.
Read how the Apostle Paul described our value:
But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (Ephesians 2:4-5)
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10).
Do you feel like a masterpiece of God’s work? I guess that at times you do not!
For the truth to encourage us, we must have faith that the Bible is true. As the Apostle said in Romans 1:17:
“…the just shall live by faith.”
Do not allow the evil one to rob you of the fact that God values you greatly and He is making you a masterpiece!
Father, I praise You for Your love for me. Help me to grasp my value in Your eyes. In Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
