Our Spiritual Muscles
Exercising Knowledge Muscles – Part V
Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3:1-18
Key Verse: 2 Peter 3:18
Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.
Continuing our study about exercising our knowledge muscles, there are many good sources of spiritual knowledge available on the internet.
This devotional that you are now reading is an example. I have been writing daily devotionals since 2004 and publishing them on the internet since 2010. I started writing them to be companions to my weekly sermons. My prayer has always been that these devotionals would be a source of spiritual knowledge, strengthening the knowledge muscles of those who read them.
Great men of God, such as Billy Graham, have written devotional books that have helped millions of believers grow strong in the Lord. Many of these books are available online. Though we should never replace our own Bible reading and study with devotional books, we can get a lot of good encouragement from daily reading of a Christ-centered and Bible-centered devotional.
Being part of a Christ-centered and Bible-centered small group is another great way to exercise your knowledge muscles. Most churches offer a ministry that facilitates the formation and support of small groups. These small groups may not be for every believer, but they certainly can be a great source of strength and support for most.
When we worship in the large settings of a Sunday morning church service, there is not normally a time for individual questions and answers. A small group provides the perfect place where a person can ask their questions and get answers from spiritually mature believers.
I have also watched small group ministries provide great support to a person or family going through a rough time in life. Whether it is resources, meals, hospital visits, or help finding a job, small groups often are in a position to help.
We are blessed to live in a day with so many resources to help us develop strong knowledge and spiritual muscles. There are no excuses for not growing strong in the Lord!
Father, with Your help, I commit myself to growing my knowledge of You. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
