Whosoever Will – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:14-17
Key Verse: Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.
[/dropcap]In[//dropcap] our passage of scripture for today we read what God says to the world: “Come, let anyone who is thirsty come…drink freely from the water of life.” This is the gift God gave the world when He allowed Jesus to pay the price for the world’s sinfulness. If anyone is thirsty for God, looking for meaning and purpose in their lives, God has provided an abundant life through faith in Jesus. All God requires is for us to willingly come—come to Jesus; believe and receive!
“Whosoever will” is a phrase that has been used down through the ages in the church. It represents the open invitation to every single breathing person. People who are poor can come! People who are rich can come! People who are ordinary and people who are special can come! No one needs to miss the abundant and eternal life provided by God through His Son Jesus.
The manger is a symbol of how Jesus transforms the ordinary to the very special in God’s eyes. The manger was but a feeding trough, but when Jesus was laid in it, suddenly the manger became part of the landscape of God’s eternal plan for mankind. It is not God’s will that anyone would be lost: “let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.” No one is too far gone; too sinful to experience God’s wonderful gift of forgiveness and fresh start. Have you come? (Continued)
Father, I come to You thirsty, needing Your water of life. Thank You for forgiving me of all my sins. In Jesus’s name, amen.
