When Storms Rage – Part 4
Scripture Reading: Acts 27:13-26
Key Verse: Acts 27:20
The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone.
The Bible tells us that faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). What are you filling your mind with these days? We “hear” the TV and we “hear” the social media, but do we truly “hear” the Word of God—the Bible? If you are weak in your faith, get into your Bible. If the storms of life feel like they are about to destroy you, study God’s Word and let it grow your faith.
Read some of the wonderful stories of the Old Testament, such as Daniel and the lion’s den, or the story of the three Hebrew children. (You can Google these names and find where their stories are located in your Bible, if you need help finding them.) These stories will remind you of a Mighty God who is able to help those who trust in Him. These stories will remind you that storms come to everyone, but for those who keep their faith, they can have peace in the midst of their story.
Let me also suggest, if you are struggling with a storm, to Google the “great promises of the New Testament.” You’ll get several options to go read God’s promises to His children. Print them off and carry them with you, reading them several times throughout your day. Don’t allow the devil to defeat you during a storm. The devil loves to lie to you, whispering his defeating and discouraging thoughts. Confront these lies with God’s promises.
Father, my hope is in You, especially as I face the storms of life. I will keep Your promises in my mind and enjoy Your peace. In Jesus’s name, amen.
