When Storms Rage – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Acts 27:13-26
Key Verse: Acts 27:20
The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone.
An angel of God stood beside Paul one night during this terrible storm that they were in. The angel of God assured Paul that he would get to his destination safe and sound. He was also assured that all the ship’s crew would be safe as well.
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an angel show up during our storms of life? Remember, they didn’t have the Bible in the form that we do, so God spoke His promises to them in different ways. However, we do have the Bible; most of us have several of them. God’s Word is available to us anytime we need it. During our storms we can grab our Bible and read the promises of God directly to us.
God’s Holy Spirit lives in us, helping us in ways that are just as real as this angel that appeared to Paul. The next day, as Paul was telling these sailors about the angel, did Paul have to keep faith that it truly was an angel of God and not simply a dream or wishful thinking? I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the devil tried to put thoughts of doubt in Paul’s head. It takes faith in God’s Word during our storms—that is for sure! All things will work together for good. Can you believe it? (Continued)
Father, I want to stay calm and trusting during the storms of my life. Please help my faith. In Jesus’s name, amen.
