A Farm Scene – Part 3
Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1-7
Key Verse: Luke 2:7
She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
Can you expect God to bless you today? You are not a perfect person and have made many mistakes, but the answer is not based on your performance as a Christian. It’s based on the generous goodness of God. Yes, if you are a believer you can expect a blessing today.
However, just like Joseph and Mary, your blessing may not look like a blessing to you now. It may take some time before you can look back and see that it was, indeed, a great blessing from God.
Things happen to us all that seem like anything but a blessing. I was talking to a believer recently who told me about the “bad” day he felt he was having—everything was going wrong. In the middle of one of the problems, he called a neighbor who was a plumber, and asked for his help. They both struggled with the plumbing problem and finally had to jump in my believer friend’s truck and run to the hardware. On the way to the hardware, the believer had a wonderful opportunity that he had never previously had, to discuss some spiritual issues. As he was driving home, that thought hit him, “These problems became such a blessing.” He was so grateful to have the opportunity to talk with his neighbor about eternal issues.
God had blessed that day, not in a way recognizable to worldly eyes, but seen clearly by a discerning believer! Be ready—God wants to bless you today! (Continued)
Father, grant me Your perspective so I don’t miss Your blessings and opportunities to share Your love with others. In Jesus’s name, amen.
