God is Working – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:12-18
Key Verse: Philippians 2:13
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
God was working in the wise men’s minds and hearts as they took note of the star and decided to follow it. They didn’t come up with this idea to follow the star on their own; it didn’t come out of a committee meeting conducted by the three wise men. God directed their eyes toward the sky and their minds to what they had studied about the coming Messiah. God moved in their hearts, causing them to want to lay all other issues of their home life aside, to follow the star; God was at work!
This first statement the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 2:13, “God is working in you,” should never be forgotten. You are not acting on your own or thinking on your own—God is working in you. God’s deep love for His creation drives Him to want every single person to follow the work He is doing in them, so that they might find Jesus! The Bible reminds us that God takes no pleasure in the death of wicked people. He only wants them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live with Him eternally (Ezekiel 33:11).
God is working in you and every loved one you care about—don’t forget that. He loves you and them more than you could ever love them! God’s Spirit will never give up drawing people toward the Savior! (Continued)
Father, I praise You for Your work in me. I will follow the work and turn from my ways to Your way. In Jesus’s name, amen.
