Key Verse: Matthew 2:2

“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

Landscaping has become an art form for some people. You can drive by their homes and know how much they value the “look” they have created. The landscaping can outshine the home at times. The opposite can also be true. When you drive by a beautiful home with little or no landscaping, it tells you something as well. I drove by a home like that for several years. I kept watching for the family to put some landscaping in to match their beautiful home on a busy corner lot; they never did. It made me assume they used all their money to build the home and had nothing left for the outside “look.” It’s also possible that they simply did not value landscaping like other people. The bottom line about landscaping: It makes a statement about the homeowners—right or wrong.

The Christmas landscape makes a statement about God and what He values. The Christmas landscape gives us the underlying message that God wanted the world He created to receive. Jesus could have come to this world with any “look” available to this world. As we go through this Christmas season, keep in mind that the landscape was very intentional and carries a message to those who would take time to truly look. Nothing happened by accident when it came to the Messiah coming to save the world. (Continued)

Father, I worship You as the God of all creation and the lover of my soul. In Jesus’s name, amen.
