Thanksgiving for the Kingdom of God

Do not let troubles and struggles blind you to the blessings of God’s Kingdom

Thanksgiving for the Kingdom of God
Seeing the Kingdom of God

Scripture Reading: John 3:1-15

Key Verse: John 3:3
Jesus replied,I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

This month’s devotional provides reasons to praise God for His Kingdom.

Today’s Key Verse reminds us that unless a person is born-again, they cannot see the Kingdom of God.

As you look around, do you see the Kingdom of God? Have you seen someone who was stuck in addiction being set free because of their faith in Jesus? Have you noticed that it is the faith-based organizations that stick around disasters after the media moves on to their next story? Have you seen Christ-followers welcome and treat others with respect, even though Christ has yet to transform them into a Christ-follower?

All these things are evidence of the presence and working of God’s Kingdom. If you have noticed these things, then it is because you have been born again!

In my prayer time, I often thank God that I can see His Kingdom and belong to it because of my faith in Jesus. I cannot imagine living without the hope I have in God’s promises for my life now and the promise of eternal life when I leave this world.

I have experienced the peace of God during tough battles and heart-breaking tragedies. I have received God’s love and forgiveness for my many failures in life. His patience and longsuffering with me amaze me! All this is why I love the Kingdom of God and give thanks for seeing it and being part of it.

Do you feel the same way? Have you experienced some of the same things I have described?

After some 44 years in the pastorate, I retired from that position in God’s Kingdom, but I am finding new ways to serve Him. I have more time now to slow down and think about what the Kingdom of God means to me.

It is so easy in the busyness of work-life to forget to rejoice that God has written our names down in Heaven and we are members of God’s Kingdom. Let me encourage you to take a few minutes to think about how grateful you have been born again and that you are able to see God’s Kingdom.

I am sure you have your share of troubles and problems to deal with, but do not let them blind you to the blessings of the Kingdom. Let them cause you to long for the completion of God’s Kingdom when Jesus returns to this earth.

Remember that it will be a glorious day when we see Jesus! Remind yourself of what is ahead for God’s children by reading Revelation 21, and then rejoice!

Father, thank You for Your plan of Salvation. Jesus, I praise You for suffering and dying to make that plan available to me. Holy Spirit, I am so grateful for Your presence in me, guiding me each day in my walk with the Lord. In Jesus’s Name I pray, amen.
