Thanksgiving for the Kingdom of God
Proper Rejoicing for the Kingdom – Part VI

Scripture Reading: Luke 10:17-20

Key Verse: Luke 10:20
“However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

The Apostle Paul lets us in on a mystery, which the Holy Spirit revealed to him:

What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. (1 Corinthians 15:50-53 NLT)

This passage of scripture gives believers another reason to rejoice for the Kingdom of God, even when circumstances in this life are not good. God will transform your body so it lasts throughout eternity. Think about that. Your body will never grow old; your body will never develop aches, pains, or any of the other things that come with growing old.

All the reasons for rejoicing that you are part of God’s Kingdom can defeat any discouragement that comes in this life. Next time your circumstances discourage you, remind yourself about God’s blessings and how grateful you are to belong to God’s Kingdom.

The more we remind ourselves about God’s eternal Kingdom the smaller that problems look in our lives.

The Apostle Paul tells us that this great transformation of our bodies will happen in the “blink of an eye”. The moment God our Father tells Jesus our Savior to go and get us believers, our transformation will happen.

God will raise to life in their new bodies those believers who have died before us. The bodies that we receive will never die! It is hard to imagine but think for a moment of what a privilege it is to know that Jesus has defeated death and gives eternal life to all who trust Jesus.

The Apostle Paul puts it this way:

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT)

Father, I am so blessed to know that I will exist forever in Your Kingdom. May I shine bright for You, giving You all the glory! In Jesus’s Name I pray, amen.
