When Fear Comes Knocking
Challenging Fear – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 41:8-13
Key Verse: Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Our Father in heaven wants for us what we, as parents, want for our children: a peace filled life! We don’t want our children walking around filled with fearful thoughts and anxiety. Certainly our Father in heaven hates it when He sees us full of fearful anxiety.
The Word of God came to the Prophet Isaiah concerning fear in God’s people. God’s message was simple: His children have no reason to walk through life fearfully. The first reason we need not fear is because of God’s initiating love for us. In Isaiah 41:8 we are reminded that God chose to have us as family. We didn’t initiate this relationship with God. It was God Himself that opened the door to us to join His family. It’s His will that all people, from every nation, would receive His offer of salvation in Jesus’ name!
Secondly, the prophet reminded God’s people that God committed Himself to walk with us—daily! In verse 10 we see that we need not be dismayed, for God promised to be with us! We are never alone nor do we ever handle any challenging issue by ourselves. The evil one will suggest to us that we have no options; we are done for. What a lie! With God beside us, we are never out of options and God can make a way where there doesn’t seem to be a way! (Continued)
Father, I praise you for choosing me and inviting me into your family. I know your presence goes with me today! In Jesus’s name, amen.
