Let Love Lead

You can experience God’s great love, but NEVER fully understand it this side of heaven

Let Love Lead
… In Our Walk with God – Part V

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 3:14-19

Key Verse: Ephesians 3:18
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.

I ended yesterday with a challenge for all of us believers to daily pray that we might understand God’s love for us better.

Today we look at the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the believers in Ephesus. In Ephesians 3:14, Paul wrote that he fell to his knees and prayed to the Father. Paul did not pray for a more comfortable life. In fact, Paul focused his prayer on other believers and their journeys with God.

How often have you spent your entire prayer time thinking of others? Paul’s prayer gives us great ideas on what a powerful prayer looks like, and we can pray it for others.

Ephesians 3:16 shows us that we can pray for God’s Spirit to empower believers with inner strength.

Do you have a family member or a friend that is a Christ-follower but is struggling in their journey with God? If so, start praying for them, asking God to work on their inner strength!

Ephesians 3:17 shows us that we can pray for believers to have “roots” that grow deep to keep them strong. We all have believers in our lives that need to grow deeper in their walk with God. All of God’s people need to focus on their walk with Him so that they have deep roots to stay strong. In our world, far too many believers are growing weary and are waning in their spiritual strength.

Start praying for those in your life to have deep roots and strength in their walk with God.

Ephesians 3:18 gives us the Key Verse for today’s devotional. In this verse, Paul shows us that we can pray for believers to have the “power to understand… how wide, how long, how high, and how deep” God’s love is for them. Until we understand this truth, we will never be able to consistently let love lead in our walk with God. It is only in our understanding of God’s great love for us that we can guard our minds from hearing and believing the lies of the evil one.

Start praying for the “power to understand… how wide, how long, how high, and how deep” God’s love is for yourself and other people in your life.

Ephesians 3:19 reminds us that we can experience God’s great love, but we can never fully understand it.

If you believe in God’s great love but simply cannot understand how He could love you… you are a normal human!

I have walked with the Lord since I was in the 8th Grade, and it is still a huge mystery how God could shower me with new mercies each day and love me despite my many failures. But I do not let my lack of understanding stop me from enjoying the love and mercy I experience with God.

It is a little like the internet. I do not fully understand how it carries the words of this devotional to your device… but I can still use it.

Enjoy God’s love!

Father, I pray that I and all the people in my life can grasp Your great love and enjoy walking with You. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
