Joy to the World

The final “nail in the devil’s coffin” is for you to decide to trust God’s love and His care for your life!

Key Verse: Galatians 5:22
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: … joy…

I ended yesterday’s devotional with the fact of God’s love and wonderful care for our lives! I did my best to show that His love and care ends the worries and cares of this world.

However, it is always a battle for us to live out this truth. One of the devil’s tricks is to paint worst-case scenarios in our minds when a problem pops us in our lives. And this can be difficult because worst-case scenarios are always possible.

This reminds me of the great Old Testament story about the three Hebrew teenagers. They refused to bow down and worship the image of the pagan king. So, the king decided to throw them all in a fiery furnace. This is what the boys said right before the king threw them into the fire:

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if He doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18).

These three boys did not use the “name and claim” type of prayer. They knew that it was possible that God would choose not to save them from the fiery death. These words revealed their faith in God’s plans and purposes for not only them, but for all those around them. So, if God chose to use their death (the worst-case scenario) to further His purposes, they were willing to suffer that death.

How do we fight our worst-case scenarios when the devil puts them our minds?

We recognize that the worst-case scenario might be true, but even so the will of God is always best. We say to the devil: “Where God guides, He provides”. We can trust His grace and strength for us. The final “nail in the devil’s coffin” is when we decide to trust God’s love and care for our lives!

Father, help me will trust Your will for my life even when I do not understand it or even like it. I declare that Your way is best and that You are worthy for me to follow. I declare this in Jesus’s Name, amen.
