Big Rocks for Strong Christ-Followers
Today’s Big Rock: Doing Everything in Love – Part II
Scripture Foundation: 1 Corinthians 16:14
And do everything with love.
If you meet a Christ-follower who can speak all the languages of the world, has the gift of prophecy, knows everything, and has faith that can literally move mountains, would you be impressed?
And if that same person gives away all they have to help poor people and sacrifices his body, surely, we would all be impressed.
However, as you already know, the Bible says that that person would be absolutely nothing in God’s sight if he did not do all things in love! (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
If you have been to church weddings, you undoubtedly have heard verses of 1 Corinthians 13, often called the “Love Chapter”. It is too bad that many people relegate this chapter only to weddings rather than treating it as a powerful message from God applicable to all their relationships.
When I see the behavior and the words of some so-called Christians these days, I wonder if the church has failed in getting across the message of love.
Jesus came to fill us with love, not anger toward the people around us.
We all fail at times to show the kind of love that God wants. Let’s be eternally grateful for His mercy and forgiveness of our lack of love.
However, I believe God asks us to make “doing all things in love” a top priority in our daily lives.
When doing something hard becomes a priority, it is amazing how we humans can figure it out!
When we decide to make loving others a Big Rock in our lives, God helps us figure out how to live it. Remember, God’s love is not a feeling, it is action that we do regardless of our feelings (more on this later).
Are you willing to tell God, that with His help, you will make “doing all things in love” a Big Rock in your life?
I often tell God that I give Him permission to work in me if He gives me the wisdom and strength to do what He is asking. Join me, will you?
Father, I give You permission to fill me with Your love for all people. Please help me do all things in love. Amen.
