Big Rocks for Strong Christ-followers

A Christ-follower loves all people with a God-like love

Big Rocks for Strong Christ-Followers
Today’s Big Rock: Doing Everything in Love – Part I

Scripture Foundation: 1 Corinthians 16:14

And do everything with love.

The next Big Rock in the lives of all strong and mature Christ-followers is living a life of love!

God’s Word confirms that love is a must in our lives. Look at what the Bible says about love in 1 John 4:12:

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

As Jesus approached His last days on this earth, He told His disciples:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Christ-followers love all people with the kind of love that only God can create in us.

The verse I made the Scriptural Foundation for this section of devotions is not an exaggeration. We must do all things in love!

When we have disagreements, handle them with Christ’s love.

When we have a tough talk with our spouse or co-worker, do it in love.

When people misunderstand, mistreat, or reject us, respond in love.

This does not mean we stay in every relationship, but it does mean we do not call people names nor do we try to damage their reputations. We must first think through all that we say and all that we do to ensure that every interaction with others is in a Christ-like way. His way is the way of love.

In the next few devotions, we study the Biblical definition of love. It is extremely important to know that definition. If we use the typical understanding, we are likely to give up trying to do all things in love.

We use and abuse the word “love” so much that we lose God’s definition in our understanding. We use the word “love” for pizza, sports, cars, activities, and many other things that spark our passions.

However, God’s love has a much deeper meaning. When we understand this deeper meaning, then we can live it!

Father, work your love in me. In Jesus’s name, amen.
