Are There Angels Serving Us?
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 1:5-14
Key Verse: Hebrews 1:14
Therefore, angels are only servants – spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.
If you read today’s Scripture Reading, you know that the author of Hebrews was wanting to convince readers how much greater Jesus is than the angels of heaven.
My guess is that most of us would not need convincing of this fact. We believe that Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity.
In my opinion, the interesting part of these last verses of chapter one is found in Hebrews 1:14, our Key Verse for today. There are angels that are sent out to serve us!
It seems to me that most Christ-followers do not think or talk much about angels. I must admit that I am guilty of not giving this subject much attention.
As I was reading through the Book of Hebrews once again, I was struck with the importance of angels in our lives.
Most of us have asked God, on many occasions, to care for and watch over us. We want and need His care and help in all the challenging events that we face.
We seldom realize that God answers our prayers by sending His angels to do what we ask… to care for us.
God has obviously decided that it is best if we do not observe His angels at work around us. I would love to be able to see these angels, but I do trust God’s wisdom on all His decisions.
The good news is that we do not have to see them with our physical eyes because we can see them with our eyes of faith.
When we are up against a situation that is causing us to be tempted to fear, we can remind ourselves that angels are sent to care for us.These angels are instructed by God in what they are to do for us.
Angels make sure that God’s promise to us that all things work together for good is fulfilled in every situation. I suggest that angels are at work in fulfilling most, if not all, of God’s promises to His children.
Since we cannot see Angels, but we can see the problems of our lives, it’s easy to live with stress and anxiety. This is like you telling your child that you will help them with a problem they are having and instead of finding comfort in your words, they continue to stress out.
God has promised us that He will help us in all things. God’s Word tells us that God sends angels to care for us and to fulfill every promise of God. Yet, we often worry and feel stressed. The only answer for this is for to know God’s promises and to trust that He will keep His word to you by sending His angels to your aid.
Jesus came to give us abundant life. Are you enjoying life or allowing old patterns of worry to steal your joy?
Father, I am determined to learn all the promises that You have for me and to trust you to keep those promises for me. In Jesus’s Name I pray, amen.
