Prayer Establishes Our Reverence for God
Shelter Dwellers

Scripture Reading: Revelation 15:1-4

Key Verse: Psalm 91:1

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Using David’s analogy in Psalm 91, let’s determine to be “shelter dwellers” today! That means we intentionally stay in His presence—in the “shadow of the Almighty.” Every issue that confronts us, every problem that confounds us, every trial that concerns us, we simply trust our Almighty God. He then becomes our refuge and fortress!

        Revelation chapter 15 gives us the “Song of the Lamb.” That song asks the question: “Who will not fear you, O Lord?” (Revelation 15:4). Will you be able to answer that with positive affirmation? Fear, here, relates to the absolute awe one has for our God. This fear speaks of the total respect we are to have for His “great and marvelous” deeds (Revelation 15:3). This fear speaks of our confidence in His “ways,” that they are “just and true.” This fear often cries out: “For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you.” (Revelation 15:4b)

I hope after this week of devotionals on “hallowed is your name” that we all have a greater understanding of why Jesus said: “You must pray this way…” He understood His Father’s worthiness of worship! The angels in heaven continually hallow God’s name. Even the demons shake at the sound of His voice. May God help us never to lose our fear of God’s mighty name. In one way or another, include words in your prayers that speak of God’s worship-worthy name!

Father, because of Jesus I can boldly come into your presence. Never let that boldness take away your worthiness of my reverence for you! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
