The Cross is an Obstacle

There is a bottom line—we must leave some things to pure faith

The Cross is an Obstacle to Logic
The Bottom Line

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16-20

Key Verse: Romans 1:17

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

As we finish up this thought that the cross is an obstacle to logic, we need to know what the alternative is.  The Apostle Paul gives us that in our printed key verse for today: “The righteous will live by faith.”  This statement does not mean we can’t think through some of the layers of our walk with God.  What Paul would say to this discussion is, “There is a bottom line—we must leave some things to pure faith.”

Don’t think this is unique to Christ followers.  Living in this world forces everyone to take some things by faith.  No one person understands all the ways that technology has advanced.  Yet, all of us use a lot of technologies that we have no idea how they work!  Our lack of understanding does not limit the use of or benefits of these technologies in our lives.

If you have doubts, welcome to the crowd, we all struggle with doubt in some areas of our walk with God.  We all have more questions than answers when it comes to our amazing God.  We simply have to surrender our doubts to Him and trust His Word to be true.  I will often say to myself, even if I have it all wrong, I’m living on the safe side by continuing to walk with God through Jesus Christ.  If my faith is wrong, I lose nothing, but if I’m right, I gain everything!  If you are seeking after God, there will come a time when you must set logic to the side and simply trust the Bible.

Father, I’m so glad you can handle our doubts and fears.  I praise you for helping us through those valleys and bringing us to the victory in Christ.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
