The Head – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Luke 23:44-49

Key Verse: Ephesians 5:23-24

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Yesterday we began discussing the “head” position, both in the church and at home. Since most don’t fight or resist Jesus being the head of the church, we need husbands to follow His example. If husbands don’t follow the model, they shouldn’t expect their wives to follow them!

The greatest act of love Jesus did for His church was to die for it! Jesus gave all that He was and all that He could to redeem His church. When husbands grasp the concept through Jesus’ example, they become the head of their home, not by demand but by request; the wife will want him to be in that position.

To die for something means there is such value in it that nothing is too much to give to save it. Jesus declared that His church was of such value, He would stop at nothing to redeem it. Husbands who act this attitude out, will be elected by popular vote as head of the home! These husbands show that they will stop at nothing to protect, provide, cherish, and love their wives and children. If it takes denying himself and his pleasures, he proves that he is willing for the sake of redeeming his wife; “buying her back” from any hurts or feelings of separation, possibly caused by arguments.

Husbands become the head of your home by the lifestyle you live! Follow Jesus’ lead, study His life, imitate His leadership style!

Father, take my house and make it a home; a godly one in every aspect. Fill us with power as we open our hearts to your truth. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
