Our Freedom of Choice!

When we do sin, godly sorrow comes pushing us to repent and renew our commitment to walk as God wants us to!

What is in God’s Case?
Life in the Spirit

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1-9

Key Verse: Romans 8:5

Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

When we choose God’s “deal,” we receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives within us; our bodies are the temple where He resides. With the Holy Spirit in us, transformation begins to take place. Our attitudes start changing; our values get turned around; our eyes are opened to the needs of others more than ourselves. Because of such changes, the Bible calls this experience being “born again” (John 3:3). In other words, when a person chooses God and receives God’s Holy Spirit, a brand-new day dawns for that person. The sinful lifestyle, that we had no power over, is now under the control of the Spirit who gives us power not to sin. When we do sin, godly sorrow comes, pushing us to repent and renew our commitment to walk as God wants us to.

Yes, God’s “case” contains all we need. The Apostle Peter describes this in his writings: “His Divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3). God’s way is not a one-time adrenaline rush that fizzles out after a few weeks or months into it. Choosing God is for life and into eternity. The ongoing work of God’s Spirit keeps us fresh and our walk with God exciting. Even when trials or testing are upon us, the Spirit in us prods us forward. Inner peace, comfort and strength are given — more benefits of choosing God’s “deal” for our lives!

Father, it gives me confidence that I can walk today, having your Spirit working continuously in me! I praise you, ahead of time, for victory over all temptations. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
