Suitable and Powerful – Part 3
Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:18-25
Key Verse: Genesis 2:18b
“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Do you need your spouse (or friend) to act right in order for you to act right? The key to being a suitable and powerful person in any relationship is to be your best no matter what others do. The problem I see in all relationships that are falling apart is that each person seems to think they only need to behave like Jesus when the other does.
God’s plan, through Christ in us, is to restore our ability to have great relationships with people, especially in our homes. We must determine to be what God wants us to be even when others around us don’t talk to us right or treat us right. Even after we determine we want to be that person for God, we must always stay desperate for God’s help. We must daily seek His strength and continually surrender to His will and ways!
This lifestyle doesn’t make you a doormat to the bad behavior of people around you. This lifestyle makes you powerful, as you respond to bad behavior with Christ like words that quiet the other person. Most people have been trained well in how to handle fighting words. What most people don’t know how to handle are kind words being said to them when they are trying to fight. Be that powerful person in your relationships. Live out the Spirit-filled life.
Father, I am yours; you are mine. I will live as you want me to, no matter what anyone else does around me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
