No test will be beyond what you can bear; God pre-measures everything

Praise Him in My Obedience
Measured Testing – Part 1

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:11-17

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

In order to truly praise God in our obedience, we must understand the test that will come to our obedience.  Sincere Christ followers start every day determined to pass any test that comes.  We expect these tests to our obedience and prepare for them.  Since Jesus fought temptation by quoting scripture, we memorize scripture that helps us in our hours of testing!

Our scripture gives us some assurances as we go into each day.  The first assurance God gives His children is that all testing will be common to mankind.  The “Message” translation says it this way: “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face.”  Don’t allow your mind to justify failure because your temptation is/was so huge that anyone would have failed.  That is a lie because it indicates that your temptations are stronger than normal.  Not so!

A second assurance given is that God is faithful to measure your temptation according to your strength and ability to overcome it.  No test will be beyond what you can bear because God pre-measures everything!  As a high school teacher, my wife must make sure she gives her students tests that are appropriate for their present levels of ability.  How much more does God do that for us!  (Continued)

Father, I praise you in my obedience because I can win my battles.  You are such a faithful God to make sure I can win—if I choose to!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
