God deserves praise and honor on our bad days, as well as our good ones

Praise Him with My Body
Ascribe Glory – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  Psalm 29:1-11

Key Verse: Psalm 29:2

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

When God our Creator put us together, He gave us the ability to give someone credit or praise.  We have that power of choice.  We can even give someone credit when they might not truly deserve it.  It is our choice, we can promote another person, making them look good if we so choose.

If you are going to do that for someone today, what will it take?  Does that person have to do some good deed for you?  Only if you demand it!  Do you have to feel it or be in the right mood?  Only if you allow your emotions to guide your decisions of life.  I hope you can see that you have the power to speak words today—positive ones or negative ones—and that is not dependent on anyone or anything outside of yourself.

Psalm 29 tells us to “ascribe to the Lord glory due His name” (vs. 2).  Do you have days when your emotions are flat and you really don’t feel like giving God any glory?  I’m sure we all have those days.  The Psalmist is not asking us to feel it; he is asking us to do it!  Say the words—ascribe to the Lord that He is glorious!  On some days it may seem fake, but God deserves praise and honor on our bad days, as well as our good ones!  Let’s make it a habit: Ascribe glory to God.

Father, I know that I fall short on my praise.  You are worthy, all the time, to receive my words of praise and worship.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
