Sometimes our posture can express our humility and worship

Praise Him with My Body
Bow Down – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:1-6

Key Verse: Psalm 95:6

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker

Yesterday’s devotional introduced the concept that has been practiced in every generation: Worship with our body.  Body posture has helped express our praise and worship since we recognized that God was our Maker.  The Psalmist speaks of bowing, kneeling and prostrating ourselves before the “Lord our Maker.”

When Jesus came, He set His followers free of the Law.  We must never feel that a certain method of posture for praise and worship is obligated.  What we do want to do is daily express our gratitude and our deepest worship of our King of kings!  Body posture can often help us express our inner feelings of praise and worship!

Maybe it would help you today to kneel in prayer.  For some, lying prostrate on the floor helps express what they are feeling inside their hearts!  Sometimes lifting our hands toward the heavens is a good way to express our praise.  It is essential to our relationship with God that we stay humble in His presence.  These postures can express our humility; our understanding of His supremacy and our dependency!  “Come, let us bow down in worship” (vs. 6).

Father, forgive me for not praising you enough.  You are worthy of daily gratitude and worship!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
