Bow before Him; praise Him with your body, as well as your words!

Praise Him with My Body
Bow Down – Part 1

Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:1-6

Key Verse: Psalm 95:6

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker

Almost every culture since the beginning of man has developed postures of reverence for their leaders as well as their gods.  The bowing of the head has been a common gesture of reverence.  Whether it is a king or queen, dictator or president, cultures have bowed in respect for those who rule.

It is not surprising that man has used these same body postures in their worship.  It is a sign of respect and reverence for a superior being.  This body posture of being bowed before someone is a sign of humility, not making oneself an equal to the person you bow before.

As Christ followers we use biblical verbiage such as Jesus being the “King of kings and Lord of lords.”  In a non-legalistic way, we can find body posture as another way of honoring our King!  The Psalmist reminds us: “Come, let us bow down in worship”!  In other words, use your body to praise and worship the Lord Almighty, our Creator!  Use your body to show reverence and respect for His awesome power.  Use your body to humble yourself before Him; to acknowledge you are no equal!  Bow before Him; praise Him with your body, as well as your words!  He is worthy of all that and more!

Father, I humble myself in your presence and give to you my praise.  With my body I will praise you!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
