We must not divide people up into the “haves and the have nots”

It Affects Eternity
Those on His Left – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:42-46

Key Verse: Matthew 25:41

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Picking up where we left off in yesterday’s devotional, we need to understand God’s perspective on our lives.  The most selfish among us would help needy people out if they get something out of it.  Those on Jesus left said, in essence, “If we had recognized it was you, Jesus, we would have served you.”  But Jesus wants us to stop dividing people into groups of VIPs and unimportant people.  If we only serve the people we think are worthy, then we are not seeing people as God sees people.

Jesus came to live among this world to show the whole world God’s love.  Jesus died on the cross for every single living soul.  It is God’s desire that everyone is valued and comes to Him for their eternal salvation.  We must not divide people up into the “haves and the have nots” or the “worthy and the unworthy”!  As we go about our day, we must continually remind ourselves that everyone is loved by God, thus everyone is worthy of my best behavior!  If they are hungry, thirsty, in need of clothes, sick or in prison, they are worthy of my help.  Certainly, I must be wise in how I help them.  I may discern that what they are asking for is not what they really need.  Some ask for hand outs when they really need training and encouragement to work.  They need to hear that from a loving heart that really cares!  Let’s go out today and represent Jesus well!

Father, when my judgment of people turns negative, please remind me of your patience with me.  In Jesus ‘name, amen.
