Feed the Hungry – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 58:11-14 NLT
Key Verse: Isaiah 58:10 NLT
Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
Today’s devotional has a very simple title: “Feed the Hungry.” These three words lead into blessings from God that all of us want. Our printed key verse starts with those three words then adds, “and help those in trouble.”
The first lesson: God is watching over you who are hungry or facing some kind of trouble. He sees you. He understands you. He cares deeply about the pain we face. There is no doubt that God’s plans include using pain to stretch us and develop us into the person He wants us to be. Our Father in heaven cares far more for us than any human parent could care for their children. Jesus said clearly and simply: In this world you will face troubles.
The second lesson: God’s plan to bring relief to our pain is through other “family” members. In God’s family, He directs those that are in a season of blessing to help those that are hungry and in trouble. Again, God is watching! As we are living in these seasons of blessing, God is watching how we handle our blessings. Are we faithfully sharing? (Continued)
Father, you know all things, including the season of life I’m in now. Remind me to stay sensitive to hurting people and help! In Jesus’ name, amen.
