God’s love impacts the world and when we love as He loves, so will we!

The Most Authentic Way
The Source of Love – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  1 John 4:7-12

Key Verse: 1 John 4:7

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

If we want to walk through this life loving people sincerely, we must acknowledge the source of sincere love.  In our printed key verse for today we can read the answer clearly: “For love comes from God.”  John clarified with a firm conviction: Anyone who has this love is born of God.  Anyone who does not have this love does not even know God (see 1 John 4:8).

These verses can only be true when we define what kind of “love” we are talking about.  Those that are obviously far from God have types of love operating in their lives.  Pagan parents have a love for their children.  Sinful people love their cars and other possessions.  Americans use the word “love” for a lot of the stuff in this world.

1 John 4:9 reminds us that God’s love is not a selfish love but a selfless, sacrificial love.  God sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins!  When we have been born of God, God starts the process of pouring His kind of love into our lives.  It is a sincere love that has substance to it; it makes a difference in someone’s life.  A teenager may “love” pizza, but that love has little impact on our world!  God’s love impacts the world and when we love as He loves, so will we!

Father, I want my little part of the world to be better because of my life!  Put your kind of love in me and I will pass it on!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
