How to Be Blessed By God
Careful Obedience
Scripture: Joshua 1:7
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
I believe that the overall message of the Bible is that God is deeply in love with His creation and, in particular, His created people. That love translates into blessing after blessing in the lives of every person who would follow after Him. As Joshua was embarking on his new leadership role, God promised that he and the people of Israel could be successful wherever they went. God’s hand of blessing was promised to be upon them. There are many New Testament scriptures that prove the point that these blessings are still promised to all who call Him their God and follow after Him!
God also knows the attitudes, actions and activities in this life that result in a positive, wholesome and blessed life. God wants, and promises, to guide His followers into these positive attitudes, actions and activities so we can receive the resulting blessings. He also promises His followers that He will point them away from the negative attitudes, actions and activities that result in hurt and harm in our lives.
Now…if we know God wants to bless our lives and we know He’ll show us the lifestyle that will bless our lives, what stops us from receiving all these blessings? Only one thing. Our unwillingness to follow His lead. The Bible is God’s main mouthpiece to us. If we follow it, we are blessed. If we don’t obey His guidance, we loose. Which will you choose?
“Father, as you show me the path to blessings, I will follow. I am happy in you as I trust and obey. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
