How to Be Blessed By God
Strength from Prayer – Part 2

Scripture:  Ephesians. 3:14-16

For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being

          The Apostle Paul writes a lot about praying.  He tells of his own prayer life.  He shares some content of his prayers with us.  In today’s scripture passage, Paul is letting the Ephesian Christ followers know that, not only was he praying for them, but what he was asking God to do for them.

First, Apostle Paul was asking God to strengthen them with power in their inner beings.  As you remember, this first week of September, we are focusing on how to be strong in the Lord.  We noted that this was the first step in receiving blessings from God.  There are many options for us all to apply ourselves and become strong in those activities.  But if we choose to become strong in the Lord, He promises us untold blessings!  So it’s not surprising that the apostle asked God to strengthen the inner beings of these early believers…he understood the rewards of this strength.  We should note that this power comes through God’s Spirit.  As we allow the Spirit to operate freely in our lives, we are “gifted” with this strength and power!  The more we listen and obey the Spirit’s voice…the more power is released in us!

How did Paul get all this started?  Through his prayer life!  You and I can get this wonderful work of God’s Spirit started in us and in others through our prayers!  It is up to us, and those we’re praying for, to cooperate with the Spirit’s work, but it’s initially a response of God to our prayers!

“Father, I can’t fathom all the power that is generated by my prayers…thank you for your willingness to respond so generously!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
