Broken Self-Worth
If God is for us! – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:32-39
Key Verse: Romans 8:31
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
One of the best ways to strengthen our self-worth is to read scriptures that tell us what God thinks of us! Today’s printed key verse, as well as the suggested reading section, is a must read when it comes to seeing our worth.
If God is for us, who can be against us? These inspired words of the Apostle Paul must be fully understood and embraced. It is obvious that the actual answer to Paul’s question, from the world’s perspective, is “many people can be against us!” Paul is obviously not saying, “If God is for us, everyone else will be for us.” He is saying when we see God for who He is, it doesn’t matter what others think about us. When we believe in a God that created the universe; when we properly reverence Him and fear Him as Jesus described in Matthew 10:28, then what people think about us takes a back seat—a far back seat!
God does not want us to become unloving with an attitude that declares: “I don’t give a rip what anyone thinks of me.” He wants us to develop a strong self-worth that will help our decision making process. When we are getting our self-worth from God’s opinion of us, then we can do the right things, even if it disappoints others around us. A strong Christ centered self-worth will help us set proper boundaries in our relationships. A strong self-worth makes for a strong obedience to a God who loves us.
Father, you are for me, and I praise you for that. I don’t do enough to earn that, I simply receive it from your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
