Prayer must be a time of refocusing from our problems to our problem solver

With Thanksgiving – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-9

Key Verse: Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Yesterday we looked at how we should approach our conversations with God.  I mentioned that gratitude and faith really work together to form a powerful aspect of prayer.  Today I want to focus on our attitude when we leave our prayer times.  Do you get up from prayer feeling anxious about the things you’ve talked to God about?  If so, what does that say about your faith in that conversation?

Our prayer time must be a time of refocusing our thinking from our problems to our amazing problem solver!  The words out of our mouth must reinforce the facts about who God is: all knowing; all powerful; all loving!  If you get your mind to consider these facts about God, do you really want to ever change His mind?  If He is wiser than any of us, why would we want our ways over His ways?  The only answer is that, at times, we become very childish and stomp our feet, wanting our way no matter what!  If you have raised children, you know that they don’t care what is best at times.  They just want their way!

Let’s determine to leave our prayer times with a deep faith that God gave us His best answer!  That attitude results in joyful living.  Get up from your prayer time praising your heavenly Father that He has heard your requests and has already determined the absolute best answer!

Father, this is a day that you put together for me.  I will rejoice and be glad in whatever comes my way.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
