God’s Spirit in us helps us, as we read the Bible, to grasp it’s promises

Admirers vs. Advancers
Growing Faith

Scripture Reading: Romans 10:14-17

Key Verse: Romans 10:17

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

When believers get into the study of God’s Word, one of the great results is that our faith grows.  I think most true believers want to have more faith.  Doubt and fear can overwhelm us at times.  Life is hard and the evil one is relentless.  We need to make sure our faith is growing in order to keep our victory over life’s trials.

Our scripture for today makes it clear that the study of God’s Word is how we grow our faith: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (NKJV).  As we read the Bible, we come to the promises God made to all His children.  The more we read, the stronger our faith grows.  God’s Spirit in every believer helps us, as we read, to grasp and trust these promises.

So many people have given up on reading the Bible.  Some churches even discourage the common lay person from reading God’s Word.  How tragic!  Of course there are some verses in the Bible that are hard to understand, but there are many others that are clear to anyone.  Don’t allow the few verses that are unclear to stop you from enjoying the vast majority of verses that will grow your faith.  A prime example is today’s key verse.  What is hard or unclear about it?  “Faith comes from hearing the message.”  Open your mind to God’s Word.

Father, I want my faith to be strong and victorious over all doubt and fears that come my way!  I will study your Word to feed my faith.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
