And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

In today’s printed key verse, the writer of Hebrews reminds us to do good and to share with others.  God understands us better than we understand ourselves, so He inspired the writer to challenge us: Do not forget to do good.  Interesting, when you think about it; we need to make an intentional effort not to forget to do good.  Let’s admit, no one needs to challenge us not to forget to do bad, selfish stuff.  Our flesh always wants to take the easy road in life.  It always wants to serve itself and its own cravings; no reminders needed!

            The schedules of an incredible family include others.  These families refuse the temptation to focus only on their needs and wants.  These families make room on their calendars to do good and share with others.  Incredible families make phone calls and seek out ways to help others that are struggling.  Incredible families are very intentional about their spending habits, refusing to consume all their resources on themselves.

            Don’t kid yourself, incredible families are just as busy as ordinary or below ordinary families, but they don’t allow the constant calling of the immediate to fill their schedules so full that the eternal values have no room.  Be an incredible family; schedule good deeds.

Father, I want to live above the average.  I want my life and my family to be an incredible influence for your kingdom.  Guide me there, I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
