Schedules of the Incredible Family
Patterns – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:17-21
Key Verse: Philippians 3:17
Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.
The Apostle Paul mentions a pattern in his life that I believe should be part of every family’s pattern: “…but one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). In other words, Paul made his schedule fit his goals for living for Jesus Christ. Too many make their spiritual life squeeze into their busy schedules, and it never goes well.
The schedules (patterns) of incredible families are arranged around their goals to serve the Lord. When their schedules get too busy to include the essential of growing their faith, they change their schedules! Incredible families refuse to be slaves to their schedules; their schedules serve them.
Many of you have been saying for far too long, our family needs to pray together; or go to church together; or read some scripture together, but life is just too busy to make it happen! You are feeling the right values but you are allowing your schedule to prevent those values from blessing you and your family. Determine—right now—to be an incredible family that daily schedules your values into your lifestyle.
Father, give me courage to make the needed changes to align my schedule with my values. In Jesus’ name, amen.
