Are you intentional in your words so that they create a record of affirmation

Conversations of the Incredible Family
Unwholesome Talk – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  Ephesians 4:25-32

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Are there some conversations that need to happen in your home that would encourage a family member?  Beyond fighting the temptation of unwholesome talk, we must go on to the second part of today’s key verse and offer encouragement.

Every home has crucial conversations that need to take place.  There are good things that the husband and/or father does that should be noted.  This will bring him a sense of respect that all men desire.  There are some essential things that a wife and mom does that need to be highlighted and appreciated.  These crucial conversations will bring a sense of being loved that all ladies need.  There are some really great traits and deeds that a child does regularly that no one seems to notice!  These deeds should be celebrated with the child.  Those crucial conversations build self-esteem that all children desperately need.

What words are coming out of your mouth on a regular basis?  I’m speaking of a regularity that creates a track record—a reputation.  Are they words of encouragement?  Are you intentional in your words so that they create a record of positive affirmation for other family members?  We all make mistakes once in a while, but let’s all determine that those times will be few and far between.

Father, I want a reputation of being a positive encourager to those around me.  Please help me by your Spirit that dwells in me!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
