Put “God values” in a place where you will see them daily and put them into practice

Values of the Incredible Family
Doorframe Values – Part 1

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-12

Key Verse: Deuteronomy 6:9

Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

The theme for February is all about your home and those who live there.  I hope to challenge you to make your home incredible!  The dictionary defines the word “incredible” as so extraordinary as to seem impossible.  Maybe you feel your home is so far from what it ought to be that it is impossible to make it extraordinary, but remember what Jesus told us: “With God, nothing is impossible” (Matthew 19:26).  No matter what the condition of your family life, take the journey with me this month and believe that God does extraordinary things!

The title of today’s devotional is “Doorframe Values.”  This phrase reflects our printed key verse for today.  God told His people to write His commandments on the doorframes of their homes.  In other words, God wanted them to put His values in a place where they would see them daily and put them into practice.  Doorframe values are the values that we actually live out in our daily lives!  Most people talk about “Family Values.”  The more relevant question is: What values change your lifestyle?

Simply saying that you believe something is right and good doesn’t make it a true value of yours.  Meaningful values are the ones that guide our lives and help us reach a desired goal.  (Continued)

Father, I want your values to be my values.  I want your values to form my worldviews and change my lifestyle.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
