Losers Pay the Price
Work a Plan
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:10-18
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 9:26
Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.
The apostle paints a vivid picture with these two illustrations in verse 26. He writes of a runner running aimlessly and a fighter beating the air. He is challenging the church to develop a plan and then work that plan. Eternity is too long and our soul’s destiny too important to aimlessly go through life without a plan.
Our planning should start with our pain. In other words, determine where you are struggling most in your spiritual journey. Most authentic Christ followers know exactly the areas in their life where they must be careful. Look over your life in the last thirty days and see where any failures have occurred. You probably know immediately your area(s) of vulnerability. The devil certainly knows and is consistently looking for a foothold in your life via those weak spots.
Once you have identified the areas, start putting a plan together. Write down ideas that come to mind that could make you stronger in those areas. If you are not sure, seek counsel; this is your eternity you are dealing with. Don’t take it lightly. After putting together the ideas, start working them into your routine. The Apostle Paul would say you are no longer running aimlessly or beating the air! Get your plan and work it!
Father, grant me wisdom as I put together a life plan that will strengthen my weak areas and make me more like you! In Jesus’ name, amen.
Thank you for this, I came across your post looking for some deeper delving into 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 and this definetly was what I needed to read.
Thanks again.
